So.... wanna be friends?
Ok, so being an adult is so weird. It's even weirder in the era of social media. What's even weirder than just being an adult, is trying to make friends as an adult.
So I moved here three years ago, knowing basically no one. Sounds fun right? Wrong. It was very anxiety inducing trying to navigate an entire new life at the age of 30blah blah years old, and trying to figure out how to make friends. **which to tell you the truth I still haven't figured out**. It's not like grade school where you just sat beside someone and they had a cool lunchbox and you had extra snacks and you just became friends. I spend 8+ hours in my office where I don't even eat a lunch most days **but that's a story for another day**, with other adults who I'm not entirely sure I don't annoy with my chitter-chatter about my animals, or my kids, or my sarcasm.
And then there is this whole para-social relationship world, where you can literally message and talk to people you have never actually met, who you know on this social media level **I'm just as much a mess on social media as I am in real life for the record**. And it's just so easy to see someone's story on Instagram and send a little message that basically feels like you're texting eachother, and you start to feel like you are "friends". **I probably am annoying as fuck on Instagram with my reply to stories, and I apologize to anyone I message for being annoying. Or actually no, I don't, y'all should just be blessed with my friendshipš¤£... I kid.
I actually can count on one hand the amount of friends I have made as an adult. And I wonder is it me? Am I that socially awkward? Or is this normal for adults? I mean I don't go out to the bars, or the "clubs" or whatever else social situations there are. I work, I come home, I spend my weekends hauling kids places or cleaning up after animals, or trips to the grocery store.
Anyone want to do a Costco trip and grab some coffee and walk every aisle? Or sit outside in my backyard and babysit 4H heifers with me while my kids work with them? You have kids? They can come too!
